President’s Welcome Message

Thanks for visiting the Temple Shalom website!

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I’m so happy you’ve come to our website to learn more about Temple Shalom. We are a community that celebrates, cares and comforts, and we want to welcome you to our home. Though our community is over 50 years old, we are embarked on a never ending journey of Jewish learning. We are a multigenerational learning community, gathering together to create a community filled with holiness, love and concern. Our programming and activities are rooted in our values of belonging, being side by side, together, for acts of worship, justice, compassion, friendship and learning. Temple Shalom is a “tree of life” for my family and I know this would be true for your family, too.

My children were raised in this warm, caring community, and it is our passion to provide all our families with connection and love for Jewish learning, at every age and stage. Please join us for worship services, a family program, or visit our religious school. I would love to personally welcome you; and I know our Executive Director Steve Lewis, or clergy team, Rabbi Andrew Paley and Cantor Devorah Avery, or Deborah Niederman, Director of Religious School & Young Family Programming, would be happy to meet with you by appointment to show you around, learn about your family and how we may be of service to you and yours. Our membership team, led by Coordinator of Belonging Monica Susman, is also available to help you find your way whether you are new to North Texas, or to Temple Shalom!

When our family first came to Temple Shalom, we were in search of a Jewish community where we would feel cared for and where we could learn and grow, together – with no barriers – and become active members. Each one of us has been touched by the sincerity, warmth and kindness present here on the corner of Alpha & Hillcrest roads. The shared experiences of celebrations, the laughter, the opportunities to participate, and the love have given my family a sense of community, belonging – home. I hope you will feel the same as you explore our pages, community and all we have to offer. I look forward to meeting you here, where you belong!

B’ Shalom,

Debra Levy-Fritts
Temple President
