Religious School Administration & Faculty
Temple Shalom’s Religious School has the highest teacher retention in the city. Our teachers are professional, experienced and participate in on-going educational development and training. Our committed and experienced staff administers our school with love and caring. They are extremely dedicated in their willingness to fulfill the needs and requests of all of our families.
Deborah Niederman, RJE
Debbie has worked in three different URJ congregations as Director of Education, and is one of the authors of the CHAI: Learning for Jewish Life curriculum core developed by the URJ Department of Lifelong Jewish Learning. She serves as the Associate Director of the Leadership Institute for the Union for Reform Judaism and previously served as a Regional Educator and Congregational Consultant at the URJ. For over 20 year she has served the board of the Association of Reform Jewish Educators and is a past president of that organization. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Judaic Studies and Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. In 1993 she earned a Masters in Jewish Education from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles, in 1995 she received the title Reform Jewish Educator and in 2018 an honorary doctorate in religious education. She is honored to be given the opportunity to support her home congregation.
Rosie oversees the Hebrew program, supporting the teachers and testing our students.
Lifelong Learning Office Manager
Karen manages the Lifelong Learning Office, providing administrative support to the myriad programs offered, including Religious School, Next Dor 2.0, and Adult Education.
