About the Event
On December 10, 2023, we will dedicate Temple Shalom’s new Justice Garden, a People’s Garden site funded by the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) office of Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).
In collaboration with NRCS, the Temple Shalom Justice Garden will be a new urban farm, growing fresh, healthy fruits and vegetables and working in coordination with community organizations focused on food security. Dallas is one of 17 Urban Agriculture Target Cities nationwide, and Temple Shalom is proud to join our community partners in contributing to a more resilient food landscape.
The Temple Shalom Justice Garden will grow to demonstrate that planting a garden, tending it together, and sharing it with the community are acts of justice that bring people together to address food inequity and ecological conservation at a local level, building a better Dallas and someday a better world.
The garden dedication will feature remarks from NRCS State Conservationist Kristi Oates and Farm Service Agency State Executive Director Kelly Adkins. We will celebrate the Justice Garden with friends, fun and garden activities.
