The community is invited to join with Temple Shalom for this very special Shabbat Service. Jill Bach and Julie Shrell, two co-founders of the Be The Difference Foundation will be our guest speakers sharing their personal stories as ovarian cancer survivors as well as their organization’s history, initiatives and strategic plans for the future.

Be The Difference Foundation: Founded By Survivors For Survivors

Be The Difference Foundation was formed in 2012 by four ovarian cancer survivors, Helen Gardner, Jill Bach (pictured far left), Julie Shrell (pictured far right) and Lynn Lentscher, who share the same passion to Be the Difference in the fight against ovarian cancer. These women experienced first-hand the little hope given for survival when they were diagnosed.  Several organizations focus on early detection efforts, but very few organizations provide hope to women in the fight.  Be The Difference Foundation was started to give survivors hope.  Hope for better treatment options; hope for longer remissions and ultimately hope for a cure.

Jill Bach is a tech entrepreneur who founded a digital agency in 1994 to help businesses be more profitable through web-based technology. An ovarian cancer survivor, she is immediate past-president of the board of directors of Be the Difference Foundation, which she co-founded in 2012.

Julie Shrell is a mom, a wife, a daughter, a sister and a friend. She is a Residential Loan Originator, a native of Dallas and a graduate of UT Austin. And, she is an almost 9 year ovarian cancer survivor, and a past-president and co-founder of Be the Difference Foundation. Through her real estate related career and passion for sharing her ovarian cancer journey, Julie was honored with the MetroTex Association of Realtors Ebby Halliday Community Service award and the Dallas Jewish Historical Society Ann Loebs Sikora Humanitarian Award.
