YOUTH PROGRAMMING
Our youth programs are dedicated to providing a safe Jewish environment where youth can have a positive Jewish experience. Programs are for grades K-12. For information, contact Director of Education Deborah Niederman, RJE.
At Temple Shalom, we believe that Jewish life is filled with joy, wonder, and opportunities for growth at every age. Our youth programs are designed to nurture social, spiritual, and educational development in a warm, safe, and fun environment. Whether your child is taking their first steps into Jewish learning or preparing for their next big milestone, we’re here to create meaningful experiences that build lasting friendships and deep connections to Jewish tradition.
A Place to Wonder, Explore, and Grow
Our youth programs encourage curiosity, creativity, and a sense of wonder. From engaging family services and hands-on learning to joyful singing and storytelling, we aim to spark excitement and foster a lifelong love for Judaism. At the same time, we help our youth build strong relationships with one another, our clergy, their Temple community, and Jewish values.
Programs for Every Age
Temple Shalom offers a wide variety of youth programs, ensuring that there’s something for every stage of childhood and adolescence. Highlights of our programming include:
- Youth Choir Kol Shalom: Our young voices (2nd-8th graders) join together in song, adding a special musical spirit to our services.
- B’nai Mitzvah Program: A meaningful rite of passage that helps our students embrace Jewish adulthood while strengthening their ties to family and community.
- Next Dor Program: Tailored to post-B’nai Mitzvah teens, this program offers opportunities for continued learning, leadership development, cooking and cultural exploration, text study and social action.
- Teen Travel: Annual trips with the rabbi to explore Jewish heritage and social justice across the US.
- Ozrim™: Our teen leadership and mentorship program, designed to give students hands-on experience as role models and leaders in the Temple community.
- College Connection: We stay connected with our college-aged students through care packages and updates to keep them engaged with the Temple community.
At Temple Shalom, we understand that youth programming is about more than just learning—it’s about friendship, connection, and community. Through every program, we aim to foster deep, meaningful relationships among our youth, their families, and our broader Temple community. Whether it’s sharing Shabbat, working on a mitzvah project, teaching on Sunday morning, or traveling together, our programs offer opportunities to build lifelong bonds.
