TEMPLE SHALOM IS A MEMBER OF THE RAC-TX.

You might ask..Who is RAC-TX? ….

RAC-TX is a state project of the Religious Action Center– the social justice wing of the Union for Reform Judaism, the largest Jewish denomination in North America. We are a collectively-organizing group of clergy and lay leaders from across the state committed to pursuing justice and advocating for legislation that aligns with our Jewish values.

FACT SHEET ABOUT  MATERNAL MEDICAID & THE NEED TO REDUCE MATERNAL MORTALITY IN TEXAS

In Texas, we have one of the highest rates of maternal mortality – mothers dying before, during, or immediately after giving birth – in the country.  Not good!  As Jews, we have a moral obligation to save lives and we know that passing this bill will save the lives of countless women in Texas.

***************************************************************

So far, 70 people (and counting) from Reform Jewish congregations across the state of Texas have signed up for the campaign launch next Monday, March 20th at 7:30pm.  The goal is to have 100 people there, so let’s plan to show up (like we usually do!) and make a difference.

House Speaker Dade Phelan has identified HB 12 as one of his priorities to pass this year.  Gov. Abbott has said he will sign the legislation when it reaches his desk. Our community can make a difference for women and children in Texas. Together, we can impact action in the Senate on behalf of maternal health in Texas.

Plan to join us!
